Madison is a therapist who works with adolescents and adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma symptoms, and life transitions. She believes that we are shaped by our relationships, identities, and environments, and that people develop different ways of coping with the situations they face. Many of these strategies once helped us get through difficult experiences, but over time they may no longer serve us in the ways we need. In therapy, she works collaboratively with clients to explore how past and current experiences may influence the emotional and behavioral patterns that show up in their lives today.
Her approach is trauma-informed and relational, with attention to how our environments and life experiences shape the way we understand ourselves and the world around us. She believes that emotional distress does not appear out of nowhere, and that social, cultural, and systemic experiences can play an important role in shaping mental health. Madison strives to create a collaborative, nonjudgmental, and affirming space and is especially committed to supporting LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.
Madison previously worked in community mental health for two years, where she gained experience supporting a wide range of individuals, particularly adolescents and young adults. Her work is informed by attachment-based and psychodynamic ideas about patterns and relationships, while also integrating mindfulness and CBT tools when helpful. She believes that insight is important, but that it is equally important to develop practical skills to navigate the emotions that can arise along the way. She views therapy as a collaborative process and sees clients as the experts in their own lives, working together to make sense of their experiences and create meaningful change.
